Art History: The Body in Art

October 7
7–9 p.m.

The human body can be seen as the central subject in Western art. In this illustrated lecture you will learn about how classical, heroic and ideal nudes, both male and female, shaped the aesthetics of artistic form for centuries. In the twentieth century, artists transformed and challenged these older norms, exploring new materials in order to represent pressing social concerns. Presenter: Dr. Efrat El-Hanany, Capilano University.

Cost: $15
