Capilano University Student Poster Show

Opening Receptions:
Thursday, March 6, 2025, 6–8 p.m.

The Ferry Building Gallery is pleased to present the annual poster show with second year students from Capilano University’s IDEA School of Design.

This year in IDEA, the class of ’27 dives into visual exploration of emotions, identity, and untold narratives through the theme of “Friend or Foe”. This exhibition presents work that challenges perception through surreal, intimate, and cinematic storytelling. From ethereal visions of resilience to the quiet tension of everyday moments, these pieces reflect personal and collective experiences through bold compositions and evocative colour palettes.

The IDEA School of Design has a four-year Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications, with concentrations in branding, illustration, and interactive design. Students in this program study current visual communication practices and learn how to identify and solve communication problems with original and creative design thinking.

Upon graduation, the students will have proficiency with the tools and technologies that support visual communication practices and the ability to apply these concepts across a range of media platforms. They learn how to recognize physical, cognitive, economic, cultural, and societal human factors that shape visual communication decisions and understand how to work collaboratively with other disciplines in business, industry, and the broader community.
