Kathleen Tennock

Kathleen Tennock was born in South Africa, where she studied Fine Art at the Johannesburg Art Foundation. Growing up, Tennock was surrounded by African culture, with its forms, colors, rhythms, and textures deeply influencing her work. For the past 18 years, she has primarily worked in clay, using primitive firing methods such as sawdust and a technique called Naked Raku. Tennock creates pieces that are not only visually pleasing but also inviting to touch. The raw texture of the clay and the spontaneous markings created by the smoke firing during the Naked Raku process give her work a natural, almost stone-like quality.
