Heather Johnston

Heather has a Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art in London, England. Her art is inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the mysteries of life. Heather’s images are a collection of photographs fused together through time and draw from diverse influences. She takes inspiration from the Surrealists view of the world - one of a compilation of disparate thoughts and dreams and seemingly unrelated images. Historical references include 13th century religious works of Madonna and Angels and Saints, the Dutch Vanitas paintings, 18th century Botanical illustrations and by the dark searching hand of Goya's paintings and etchings. More contemporary influences include Luis Gonzales Palma. "Through the image is sustained an awareness of the infinite: the eternal with the finite, the spiritual within matter, the limitless given form... the goal for all art is to explain to the artist himself and to those around him what man lives for, what is the meaning of his existence." – Andrei Tarkovsky.
