Art History: Artists-Muses: Promises & Perils Part 1

October 21
7–9 p.m.

Women who were famous artists’ muses had access to the art world, yet their participation in it as equals was often obstructed by gender stereotypes. This illustrated lecture explores the life, work and relationship of sculptor Camille Claudel and Rodin. The second artist we will examine is Suzanne Valadon, who modelled for Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec in Montmartre. Presenter: Sandra Seekins, MA, art historian, Capilano University.

Cost: $15
