A Stitch in Time: Mending the Future with Suzanne Northcott

February 1
2–4 p.m.

The textile and fashion industry is one of the most polluting on the planet. We are looking for ways to understand its impact on resources, the ecosystem and people. In this illustrated lecture, textile artist Suzanne Northcott will explore the beautiful and simple Japanese technique of sashiko, indigo and a brief history of Japanese textiles and mending. She will share how the journey into mending and reimagining second-hand clothes has spilled into her art practice and what we can all do to make a difference.
